Unlocking Potential: Mauritania-UAE Water Project

In a bid to unlock the agricultural and economic potential of rural communities, Mauritania and the United Arab Emirates have embarked on a transformative water project, heralding a new era of cooperation and prosperity. The ambitious initiative, backed by a substantial funding injection of 60 billion old Ouguiya, aims to harness the waters of the Senegal River to benefit villages in three states.

Led by Mauritania's Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Abdelsalam Mohamed Saleh, and the UAE's Ambassador, Hamad Ghanem Hamad Al Mehairi, the project holds immense promise for alleviating water scarcity challenges and bolstering agricultural productivity. Through the installation of reinforced cement pipes, water will be transported to 165 villages, catering to the essential needs of over 115,000 individuals and supporting the livelihoods of millions of livestock.

This collaborative endeavor epitomizes the spirit of international solidarity and underscores the pivotal role of infrastructure development in fostering inclusive growth and resilience. By bridging nations and unlocking access to vital resources, the Mauritania-UAE water project represents a beacon of hope for communities striving to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
